Meeting was done and there is no next meeting
for July....
August is the Association's cookout........
September we go back to
meetings.................. Have a good summer
May 7, 2008
May's
meeting was held May 5, 2008 at St. Edith's
Stein
Church the lower level, and the meeting was called to order by President
Scott Dwyer @ 6:10 p.m.
Councilor
at large Robert Sullivan spoke about the
problem in front of Gowell's Candy and that
the road would not be shut down again when
working. May 19th would be when the sewer
would be tied in. And they would patch it
after they are finished. He also stated that
a meeting with Mayor Harrington would be
coming up the first week in June, about the
Budget. It is a two week process; they will
be talking about the foreclosures with James
Martelli, Joseph Vasapollo, Chief Kenneth
Galligan, Chief William Conlon.
Brockton needs to get their
fair share of money to the city. Problems
that have arisen because of the foreclosures
are the copper stealing, gave a problem the
fire department had to contend with, is that
the gas boiler in the south end of the city,
was dangerously attacked. And he reminded
about the election for the 9th
Plymouth district and the candidates that
were up for office. The candidates were
himself Robert Sullivan, Mike Brady and
Connor Yunits, Lawrence Novak. Rep. Thomas
Kennedy is running for Senator in General
Court. Good Luck to All!
Councilor
At Large Linda Balzotti said Monday they will
have a resolve issue on the false alarm
calls, this will allow collections after 3
calls. They have been reviewing the ordinance
with the Chief, with building false alarms,
burglary of businesses and home alarms. These
alarms all tie up a lot of manpower, when the
officers could be tending to another call.
The collections from these alarms would be
used for the vests, equipment and for gas.
How do you change this 1979 ordinance?
1979-2003 was done on a regular basis, and
now they are either looking at other
companies or registering with the police
department. Again the budget they again have
to look at it first, and to see what is what.
Positions may be cut, how many? We don't know
until we look at the book. Library cuts may
now be that extensive, they can not add to
them, reduce numbers. President Scott Dwyer
asked a question about the personal welfare
checks, do they have to go to them all.
Councilors agreed that they do have to go to
them all, just to check to see if people are
all right, and that nothing has happened to
them. There would be that one call that
something might be wrong, that they don't go
to. Another question asked was does State
Trooper Patrols come out of Brockton money?
The answer was no, it comes out of the State
money.
Rebecca
Beckford read the Treasure's report:In the
account we have $4,337.99, $250.00 in
renewals, paid out $128.00 to the post
office,$100.00 went to the Brockton
Historical Society for the golf tournament,
$210.00 went to the website, and a check was
sent to the MSPCA in memory of Gregg
Belcher's mother(Maria Belcher)
Secretary
Al Gazerro asked if everyone was utilizing
the website. Get in touch with the members of
the board if you would like speakers here,
and getting more people involved and becoming
members. Al received a thank you note from
the family of Maria Belcher for the donation
to the MSPCA. First request: the Police are
looking for a donation for the Brockton Fair
booth, asked for $150.00 to rent a tent.
(Campello Business Assoc. said yes.) A vote
was taken and all agreed. The 2nd request was
from the Neighborhood
Health Center for the
Triathlon September 9, 2008 at D. W. Fields
Park having a fundraiser. Walking to Health
brick walkway. pay for brick $100.00 for 4X8,
$250.00 for 8X8.
Again reach
out to other businesses. We are looking for
input from other businesses and what they
would like to do as far as donating to
different causes.
It was said
that Fairfield Farms deal fell through again,
but still people looking at it. This is 2x's
not being sold.
Vice
President Fran Fistori said the Main Spring
does a wonderful job of cleaning. He has a
group from the crew that helps in cleaning
the property. The D.A. uses them to help
clean vacant properties.
President
Dwyer has some calls on the street signs, the
signs are allocated to go up. There is one
problem; there is only one guy with one
truck. There are parking issues also, Scott
was going to call Manny Gomes.
There will
be one more meeting in June, and none in July
or August (we are off, and coming back to the
cookout.) There has been talk of moving the
cook out because of the last time we had such
hot weather. This is so that we can get more
people at the cookout.
Ears open
for new members that would like to join.
Introducing new member to the association was
Lynne Bjorkman from Collins Surgical. We have
an introducing time to introduce ourselves to
the new member.
The
association had asked George Almedia to come
here tonight to talk about tagging. George is
a member of the Brockton Police Dept.
Detectives. Detective Almedia said a majority
of the tagging is not gang related. A man
Mark Echo has made a 2 billion dollar
business, all graffiti (Law/Order backdrop)
and he does "Gettin up" Get name up there,
and how to evade the police. Gettin up in the
heavens, on my space there are concerned
citizens. One day this is a hit, Don't hype
up the tagging. Brockton has identified most
of the tagging people. Tagging is malicious
and does double probation and no restitution.
22 properties have had malicious damage done
to them. They are trying to build a case, but
some times it is difficult. He says if you
have this type of tagging on your property,
don't let them sit there. Report it to police
so that they can take a picture of it. They
would like to keep records of these taggings.
And as soon as they see it, have it removed.
Dunkin Donuts has been hit bad. How do they
find the time? Not all of it is tagging,
some are talented. Spray paint at levels.
After 3 a.m. police busted taggers at the station. B.A.R. talked to them about the
graffiti’s, railways can see the graffiti.
They use these to establish territories, in
terms tagging gangs there are some in this
area. Laureston St have establish working
near
Nilsson St.
Younger kids afraid. Graduate to the big
buildings, in Montello area on Division St
has been hit. There is a gang called the
disciples, markings like the 6 point star,
blood stuff, cripp stuff, 974, IGD, BHWB.
Call graffiti hotline, document it and have
it removed. There was a south side elderly
couple had graffiti and called Tom
Washington’s team at Main Spring and had it
removed. On Howard St. a factory was tagged
repeatedly.
The
association would like to thank Detective
George Almedia for his time tonight and
giving us some knowledge on this tagging and
graffiti.
Next
meeting we hope to have Bernie Seagal from
the Assessor's Office, hope he can make it.
Senior Prom is May 23rd tickets
are $10.00 and have to be 60yrs old or
older......
Next
meeting is June 4, 2008. Hope to see you
there!

APRIL 2, 2008
April
Meeting was held on April 2, 2008 downstairs
at St Edith Stein's Church. Meeting was
called to order by President Scott Dwyer
(Dwyer's Glass) @ 6:04 p.m.
Brockton
Neighborhood Health Center and Asack's Place
renewed their memberships.
President
Scott Dwyer wanted to report no street signs
yet, and that there are new hookers walking
around. He also wanted to report that there
was a break in the house next to U-Haul and
they got the person breaking in. Home Cafe no
news has been heard on their progress.
Treasurer's
Report was read by Treasurer Rebecca
Beckford, we have $4,676.79 in the account.
We paid out a sponsorship for the BPS
Basketball All Star. We have a few new
members and a lot of renewals.
Secretary Al
Gazerro (Brockton Police Dept.) warned about
the spray painting of businesses and all
over. He said Affiliated Warehouse was hit by
the spray paint really bad. Any graffiti call
the hot line, and talk to Tom Washington and
his crew.
Downtown
Association is back meeting. They may be
contacting about the Parade.
We are
looking for businesses to tell us who you
would like to see as guest speakers. We need
your help in doing this. We would like to get
the meetings interesting and informative to
all. Contact Scott Dwyer or Al Gazerro with
any suggestions. Clean Energy - person from
here will talk to the association. We hope
to have the tax assessor here to speak with
the association, so have questions ready.
We are
looking to spotlight business for the month
anyone interested get in touch with Al
Gazerro.
There was a
question about police officers calling and
asking for donations. Al Gazerro answered the
question by saying no police officers call.
If they call ask them their name, most of the
time they will say thank you and say
goodbye. Black and Blue Hockey is a group of
retired officers do call and they are a good
organization and it's up to you if you want
to give. There maybe some people who call
saying they are calling in behalf of the
police, ask who they are and where they are
from. Police officers can not collect money,
they usually hire private firms.
Mary Waldron
informed the association that Brockton has a
ten year plan to eliminate homelessness in
Brockton. First managing it and then
eliminating it.
Leadership
group get together and sees if the plan needs
to be revised state money to come to help
homelessness, some do not want the services
but need it.
They are
looking in places near Bargainer, freight
yards, East Ashland St. Mary will try to get
copies of the plan. It is important to read
this plan. People to get jobs and housing,
federal and state grants hopefully will help
with this plan. There was some mention of the
Fairfield Farms property where the church is
suppose to be going up. There are homeless
people making their castles and huts.
Father Bill
and The Mainspring House are trying to build
housing behind the Mainspring on Spring St,
and they are using these as transitional
housing, to help the ones on the work
express. There are a few of the homeless
that just don't want help. They have no
housing, no address.
There are
two big houses near Max's Blues Cafe there
are no parking spaces for the houses and the
property owners are not getting what they
want so they are leaving these buildings to
fall apart. The city is fining these property
owners, and if they have too many the city
can step in and take them over.
Near the
train station they wanted businesses and to
do housing on top floors with businesses on
the bottom floors. 53 Spark St, is a 40R
district, they want to develop 70 units to
house people. There is a river underneath the
property and when it rains it gets flooded.
Boston
Society Architects working with Brockton to
create a cultural center, with metal workers
furniture crafters, glassblowers to come to
downtown. Simple Syrup -glassblowing is
expensive to run. They are located in the
village section of town.
T.F.
Kinnealey Foods is on 1100 Pearl St. it could
be bringing all 3 of there businesses to
Brockton, keeping the people they have and
giving Brockton residents a chance for
employment.
Good Times
maybe coming to the mall, there are talks
about an additional tiff.
Salvation
Army that bought the old Merrill's wants to
come to the association and talk about its
project.
Catholic
charities is being organization expanding.
Kevin
DeDominici the owner of the new business
that opened on North Montello St. called
Super Laundromat wanted to thank the
association for being apart of the grand
opening.
Fairfield
Farms current owners wanted more money, and
the building is not sold as of yet.
Regarding
Oceanic who took over the old Mcgrath
Industries , there has been a call into
the Mayor's office , Lt Williams, and Officer
Scott Uhlman of the task force and to
Councilor Mcmillan about the problem with
this property. Property is not being kept up.
There has been several complaints about this
property.

meeting tonight. Secretary Al Gazerro said
memberships
had a good renewal so far. Let's see if we
can increase the number. There is a
possibility that there are a few more to
come.
Secretary's Report from Al Gazerro
Al stated the mayor Harrington was
having meetings on the plan 2008. Brockton
Community School (Cathy Smith director) is
having an all star game and is need of either
sponsor's or to run an ad, Vice President
Fran Fistori made a motion and Dave Lynch
2nd the motion. It was approved with no
objections. Question on getting a team

If you haven't renewed yet this year please
send in your renewals.
Councilors report:
Councilor Linda Balzotti reminded the
association about "Keep Brockton Beautiful"
day is April 26th the organizational meeting
for the event will be tomorrow.
Councilor Michelle Dubois Introduced herself
and she is councilor of ward 6. She is
available to neighbors and business people,
and any problems or concerns call her.
Councilor Chris MacMillan of ward 7 a lot is
happening in the ward, the old Garland Mills
building was bought by Equity Partners. They
are still planning, it is a very large
company.
President Scott Dwyer asked about the
flooding at the mall, it was at this time to
introduce D.P.W. Commissioner Mr. Thoreson
for that question. It is always a problem at
the mall because of the stream. Fire and
police were doing there best to keep people
from going in there. Flooding in front of the
lanes gets backed up partly because the
underground retention pond under Lowe's, the
water doesn't always get there and it causes
the back up .
About Keep Brockton Beautiful Day it is the
4th year running, it is getting bigger and
better. Teams are forming and feel free to
join in. They are excepting all donations and
all supplies. Everyone will meet at Height's
Crossing and then go back for a cook out.
Everyone is welcome to join and participate.
Allied Waste will have a truck available for
pick up, and there will be phone numbers
available too. It is a fun day and the Mayor
is behind this day. Good will between
everyone.
Commissioner Thoreson talked about the
problem on North Main St. That holiday
weekend. Water Main broke and don't know
when. They couldn't shut off the valves
because they are old and that is why they had
to go as far as Pleasant St. and a mile the
other way. They were exercised 5 years ago,
stems 2 years ago. The plan is to do the
construction in the spring , can't do it in
the winter. Commissioner Thoreson wanted to
give kudos to the crews that worked around
Christmas week, 36 hours straight to fix the
problem. It was an act of nature that broke
the pipe.
Dave Lynch from Lynch's Towing has a problem
on Cary St. with the flooding. He asked if
there was anything that could be done to fix
the problem? Commissioner Thoreson said the
plants are very overgrown and that maybe the
reason , you would have to dredge the river
to fix it. They do have a contract to clean
the rivers and he will send someone down to
fix the problem. Call his office in April to
remind him.
Richard Gowell of Gowell's Candy asked if the
Construction could go after Easter? In your
situation with the break the last time I
would like to apologize. D.P.W. doesn't shut
down roads, the police officers shut down the
road and it shouldn't have happened. We try
to leave at least one lane opened. Police
officers thought it would be best to shut it
down. commissioner Thoreson said Richard
Gowell has been very pleasant under the
circumstances. Gowell's Candy patrons could
not get near the business during this time
they either walked a distance or they did not
stop.
Commissioner Thoreson said this old city has
pipes well over 100 years old. And some of
the older pipes have lasted longer than the
new ones. They do try to get a problem fixed
before the road is redone. Pleasant St
construction is in design by the state.
Project Belair St., Moraine St. and Pleasant
St. are under construction and running
smooth. Winter St. is under reconstruction
also. West St. and Pleasant St. is still a
sticky situation with the gas station and the
trucks coming in and out. Secretary Gazerro
said they had a plan 4 years ago, with a road
to the gas station. Taking the land, and
having another entrance before the current
entrance. Intent was to cut traffic on
Reynolds memorial. The reconstruction of the
mall area, with a new movie theater. There
are a series of steps, eventually state will
try to do over with the intersection. Bid in
September for the construction on the
intersection, Spring 2009 theaters should
officially open. The upcoming budget could be
hurtful.
President Dwyer asked about the intersection
of North Main St. and Oak St. is there any
changes coming in that intersection?
Commissioner Thoreson asked why he didn't
call earlier. Any time they have a problem to
call him. He said he will ask the Traffic
Commission to look at it and see what could
be the solution. It is a very bad
intersection.
Jeff from Christopher Shoe will be moving
April 1st to 750 Belmont St. (Auto Zone
Plaza) and thanks to Mary Waldron ,Councilor
MacMillan, President Dwyer for all their help
during this move.
Al Davis not of the Oakland Raiders but from
B.A.R. asked about the intersection of Ames
St. and North Montello and the water that
comes from the triple decker. Commissioner
Thoreson said that he is surprised that there
aren't more accidents there with this
problem. He sends crews out to sand
frequently. Doesn't know where the water is
coming from , he did say that the stone wall
in front collapsed and someone fixed it but
the water is still running.
Commissioner Thoreson thanked the association
for inviting him to the meeting. and again if
anyone has any questions call him.
Mary Waldron from 21st Century said the old
Garland Mills Building was tagged badly.
Chief Conlon knows about this problem.
Council Meeting on water rates, Public safety
issues and the foreclosure problems,
businesses still looking to come to Brockton.
Grand Opening of the Super Laundromat on 797
North Montello St. cordially invites you to
come and meet the new owner Ken DeDominici.
Welcome him to the Montello area. Mayor will
be speaking and councilors.
Mayor informed that the sports complex still
in stages, Suppose to add the Tukis Park and
the Sports Complex it is an expensive amount
of money to do. Important city is still
moving forward. Eli Bakery is now in Ward 5.
W.B. Mason is moving forward at the old site
of the Bargainer. They have spent about
800,000.00 alone to clean it up, and they
plan to be here another 25 years bringing in
more jobs to the city.
Mary says the city is working with both small
and large businesses to come to Brockton.
Keannelly Foods , Allied Products bringing
100 jobs. And there are a few more knocking
on the door. They can have the ability of
owning the building and having enough water.
Councilor Robert Sullivan wanted to thank the
councilors for coming here tonight. Monday
was a long meeting. They had the three cab
companies serving Brockton at the meeting
discussing the plastic barriers. He wanted to
thank Councilor MacMillan for the information
about the safety and how much is a life
worth. some concerns of some of the owners
were the bigger drivers that couldn't move
the seat back. and some concerns were the
loss of leg room the customer would have.
They have not mandated the issue yet of the
plastic barriers.
Other big issue was violence, there was and
hour and a half discussion on it. That
proactive things are being done. Tagging has
a hidden meaning. If tagging has been done on
your property call the police first, then
call Main Spring to remove it fast. Police
Officers will take a picture of it.
Desal Water Increase Committed along time
ago, $100.00 more per house. The vote was 6
to 5 to move forward. We now have water and
will have to pay for it. We are still cheaper
than other towns.
Huge Money concerns, Mayor Harrington coming
in and giving a realistic approach. Very
serious , tough decisions to make in trying
to make a difference.
Dave Lynch brought up that Brockton is the
only one in the nation that don't have a
train crossing.
Richard Gowell asked about First Choice
building on North Main St. there are a lot of
boats and junk laying in front of the
property. The issue is can we have it looked
into, when people come in from other towns
and cities, what kind of appearance does that
give us. And what type of Company are they .
Barbara Lutz from the Brockton Historical
Society was introduced by President Dwyer
next. The Brockton Historical Society is
trying to raise funds. They are a totally
volunteer Society and are planning a golf
tournament. It is on May 22, 2008 at the D.
w. Field Golf Course. D.W. Field was a
Montello Businessman himself. They are going
to have a luncheon and great prizes to
raffle. The flyer will be sent out soon to
all businesses, so they may help us with this
event.
Barbara Lutz also invited everyone to come
and visit the Historical Society. She then
thanked the association for the time to
speak.
Councilor MacMillan said Westgate is looking
for free standing restaurants to be in the
mall. Cape Cod Cafe backed out of a deal they
had with the mall.
Concerns with the Home Cafe was asked by some
association members. Councilor Dubois would
like to talk to the owner to see what is
going on.
Still waiting for the parking issues on North
Main St. with the Traffic Commission.
There was talk about the Enterprise and the
media selling pages. Always talking about the
crime. And not talking about the good news in
Brockton. Councilor Petti talked with Steve
Damish of the Enterprise and coming soon will
be Brockton High School news. All about the
happenings, and talking to the principal.
Positive reporting about Brockton High
School. The Enterprise is printed at the
Globe. A lot of errors in the paper, Brockton
people not working there. 99% say that to
them it is totally different paper.

January 2, 2008
January 2, 2008 meeting
was held @ Brockton Community Health Center
President Scott Dwyer called meeting to order
@ 6:13 p.m. And wanted to wish everyone a
Happy New Year, and hope that 2008 will be a
better year for everyone.
President Dwyer wanted to thank everyone for
their contributions to Rosie's Guardian
Angels. There was a van full of gifts to
deliver to Rosie. We hope to make next year
better.
We
had quite a few councilors here tonight, and
for reasons beyond control some councilors
haven't been to our meetings. So we would
like to hear from them at this time.
Councilor Michael Brady from Ward 2 spoke
first do to he had to leave early for other
commitments. He spoke that he was very
supportive of business Associations and all
that the business community does for the City
of Champions. His ward is part of the
downtown, he would like to see the
association revitalized, a lot of good
businesses that belonged to the downtown
business association. He also spoke of the
Home Cafe and how bad he feels on their loss,
with the recent water pipe break in front of
their business. He said any help we can give
the Home Cafe would be good. And he also
wanted to thank Lou Brambilla from the
Neighborhood Health Center for having the
meeting here tonight. Again he apologized for
leaving early for other commitments.
Treasurer's Report by Rebecca Beckford was
$2,984.74 money we have in bank. Pay out to
Scott Dwyer for 2 years worth of coffee was
$186.80. we had two new members Speigal Scrap
Metal , David Sullivan from St. Paul's
Kitchen.
Secretary's Report was read from Officer Al
Gazerro, He said website was up to date. He
also said he sent out new renewal
memberships. So send you r renewal membership
in. And if you know anyone that would like to
join , have them send in form from website.
Al wanted everyone to introduce themselves so
new people know who people are and what there
titles or businesses are.
President Dwyer introduced Lou Brambilla and
thanked him for letting the association have
their meeting here tonight. After the meeting
we all will go on a tour of the facility.
Lou Brambilla started off saying the
Neighborhood Health Center was incorporated
in 1992. The health center started on the
corner of West Elm St. and Main St. At the
old facility they had 10,000 sq. ft. and they
now have 58,000 sq. ft. He said the old
facility grew to small and so they moved to
the new facility on 11/6/07.He said 42% of
the people that come to the facility don't
speak English , most of their employees speak
more than one language. Health Care - how
much you pay is based on your income.
Pharmacy is one the first floor, so you can
get the medication right there before you
leave. The hours of the pharmacy are the same
as the health center. They are expanding
pediatrics, they also have ob/gyn, and hope
that the dental can expand as well. They
have a satellite program @ Main Spring. The
have an Urgent Care so you can come to the
center for sick visits rather than clogging
and waiting long hours at the emergency room
in the hospitals. They hope to add two more
physicians. Also joining in on the
conversation about the health center was Sue
Joss also from the center.
A
question asked " are all 5 floors full ?"
there are some small spots open but soon to
be filed. Anyone can come here. Make
appointments, they do take health insurance.
How many people that come to the center are
Brockton residents? 77 % reside in the city
of Brockton, rest reside outside of the
city. the people that live outside of the
city may have lived in Brockton and moved and
are attached to the doctors here. How many
employees do you have? 160 employees , they
speak different languages , there is a
homeless specialist. they are the largest
private employee.
www.bnch.org
Secretary Gazerro asked about the health care
reform, 55% were uninsured, they have an
increase in patients . Outreach Workers go to
the Laundromats and high rises, to see if
they can help.
Asking about senior citizens. Some times the
seniors have to decide between meds or food
or heat. the Health Center helps with these
questions. Some times with all the help
seniors will get 90 % discount on their meds.
One story that was told about a diabetic
patient that made a doctor upset that a
patient had to decide between medication and
food for his family.
Richard Gowell asked how is the center
funded? 9% federal, state contracts, billing
insurances, private, Mass.
Adding doctors is the biggest challenge, it
is really tough. appointments are usually
physicals in 3 months, pediatrics 3 weeks,
and sick visits same day. Dental is a big
service, waiting list , for pediatric
dentistry, Mass. Health is being reopened.
Triathlon - D. W. Field's Park , come and
join in the fun, helps the center. Officer
Gazerro would like to get a team together for
the triathlon. Any one interested in
participating let Al know.
What can we( association) do for you (health
center) just get the word out to employees,
and the small businesses.
Mary Waldron from 21st century (
www.brockton21.com
)asked maybe information for Health Center be
provided be at the businesses. Outreach
workers will come to the businesses and talk
to employees.
We
wanted to congratulate Councilor Robert
Sullivan on becoming the Council President,
as he was voted unanimously .
Councilor Report Councilor Macmillan said
everyone was reelected and that was great, we
have tough times ahead though. The group is
dedicated , to get the job done. Councilor
Todd Petti has been here 12 years, Councilor
Linda Balzotti also has been here starting
off as councilor as ward councilor and now
councilor at large. He also said that they
try to make every meeting. He also added that
they are working on what they can do with
what what they have. they are asking for
early budget to see what needs to be done,
and making the tough decisions. And if anyone
has any problems don't hesitate to call the
councilors - you pay taxes. He wanted to say
that the Health Center building is fantastic.
Issues are the Home Cafe, and the water break
out front. Workers couldn't stop the water,
60 valves same age, and they couldn't be
closed. That's why they had to go as far
as Pleasant St. and North Main St. to open
the hydrants, and residents and businesses in
the area were with out water. And when it
finally returned they had to run the water
for a while. The Home Cafe had a stone
foundation under it, and it was damaged.
Larry Rowley was working on the problem. In
the area we also had a fire in the area on
North Montello St. a vacant house at the same
time the pipe broke. The work that was done
in the area were sewer pipes from Ames St. to
Oak St. Some people talked about the
department having a better maintenance
program set up. they would like to have the
D.P.W. Commissioner to come to the next
meeting.
Councilor Petti talked about the Fire Dept.
a 2 rating and there is only 5 in the state.
Fire Chief Galligan is always up on things.
David Sullivan whose been in the insurance
business also. he also agrees with Councilor
Petti, he said Cambridge is rated
1. Councilor Petti also said that it is
stated to make Brockton to be rated 1 we
would have to have every home 1 1/2 miles
away from a fire station. It was stated that
we would like to have Chief Galligan Come to
a meeting.
Sandy Wixted from Catholic charities (www.sharingweb.org/agencies/catholic_charities_south.htm
)wanted to know what will be going on with
the water pipe problem because they are
involved with a new building and old hospital
, she said they had the old hospital checked
and the ground was pretty sturdy.
Mary Waldron from the 21st century talked
about 2007 , looking back was a good
year. Prospects for 2008 is getting better.
Tax bill just came out. Bernie Segal
received a lot of phone calls. There was some
discussions on whether or not the bills went
down. she said a number of new businesses
coming to Brockton (food). She said the
labor force is available and hope for new
growth. Mary Waldron also stated she is a one
person office now. She said Island Oasis (
www.islandoasis.com
) is in deep negotiations was waiting for the
first of the year. The building that was
Maxwell shoes or as some remember Garland
Mills is still waiting for a business. Eli
Baking company 228 North Montello across from
Woodard's is coming soon. Last thing she said
they are applying for Grants . For workshops
-short term- take a look at them , and go to
them (
www.montellobusinessassociation.com/training.htm
Councilor Balzotti said she is looking
forward to working with the association this
year.
another note of interest is that Father
Flavin of St. Edith's Stein is leaving, and
