President Scott Dwyer
called the meeting to order at 6:05 p. m.
President Dwyer asked that everyone
introduce themselves and the business.
Last month's Treasurer's Report : Greg
Belcher read the Treasure's Report. Balance
is $3,468.82 . The Association spent $135.73
+ tip equaling 169.69 for the annual
Christmas Party. Greg commented on the
spread the Tom Doyle from Doyle's put on,
saying it was great. The ending balance for
the year is $3299.13 Greg already has the
paperwork ready.
Secretary's Report
was read for November 2011, We had the
Christmas Party instead of a meeting for
December.
President Dwyer talked about
the Parade saying it was good and that we
collected a lot of toys. In fact the toys
filled three cars and were delivered to the
persons in need. President Dwyer and Charlie
Dwyer delivered all the toys to house's and
St Patrick's, St Edith's. President Dwyer
thanked his father for helping delivering the
toys. President Dwyer also wanted to thank
Paul Clancy Real Estate and Brian Eagan from
Rocco Rose Insurance with his other offices
in Mattapan and Boston for helping out this
year filling boxes. A gentleman from East
Ashland St named Jack Barron saw the article
in the Enterprise and brought some toys down
to help fill the boxes.
This is a new
year, Campello Business Association have
events and charges the members to give to the
organization. President Dwyer has already
asked Mayor Linda Balzotti to be the speaker
at February's monthly meeting.
Neighborhood Watch Coordinator William Healy
was asked to speak next. Bill said that
President Dwyer and himself went to City Gas
to talk to the owner about the many robberies
there and discuss what he could do to help
prevent these robberies.
Peter Asack
member of the Association has been able to
purchase the lot next door to his business
that has been owned by the city. All signs
were taken down and Asack's customers were
allowed to park there. This was a group
effort to get him to get that piece of
property.
Coordinator Healy also
talked about the stats and how arresting
Olivio Leveron a big gun and a drug guy
caused a lot of problems in the city. 106
guns taken off the streets in 2011. Trinity
Catholic School parking lot had an incident
on 12/31/11 that ended to the arrest of five
people for drugs . A gun was thrown up on the
roof of the school that was later retrieved.
On 11/3/2010 drug dealing on North Montello
and Wilder St, was a tip and later on
12/19/2011 a drug bust and raided the house.
I t takes time to get these things done.
Coordinator Healy printed out some stats for
North Main St. since 11/1/11 had 1 Band E at
Matta's 77 North Main St. no one was
arrested. At 567 North Main St Rod's Pizza
delivery man was held up by two people with
guns. At 736 North Main St City Gas robbed
five times since 2009. Coordinator Healy and
President Dwyer went to talk to owner for
over an hour. The owner has to change things
so he will not be robbed anymore. Officer
Stan David said they try to have a bigger
police presence there by sitting in the
parking lot. There was one caught in 2009,
but there was an issue with the I. D. with
the suspect. Suspect was found not guilty
even though good witness and video.
Again 703 North Main St.
is a car rental place, last couple of rentals
involved in shootings. Prostitution is going
on, on 9/30/2011 there was a reverse sting
and four Johns were arrested, they are
concentrating more in the Montello area. the
building at 764 North Main St, the old
McGrath Industries, is being fixed up to be a
daycare for Adults. Also the Bike place has
rented out three spaces after fixing up after
the fire. Johnson Court there was a call
argument in family and heard gun shots in the
area a 911 call was put in by employees of
Gowell's Candy, Rich Gowell wanted to know
why the police didn't respond to his business
for making the call . Coordinator Healy said
the police don't have to come down if the
shot spotter picks it up. Greg Belcher of
Waitt Funeral Home asked about bank
robberies, Sovereign Bank on the Westside was
held up, authorities followed these
individuals.
Crescent Credit Union on
Main St was hit, and the FBI was involved
with this catch.
Officer Stanley David
talked about New Year's Eve saying it was
very busy. There were six parties and they
moved on to another location and people got
arrested. There was talk of the call about
the boyfriend kidnapping the baby, and how
ridiculous the outcome was and how they have
to respond to all calls like this.
President Dwyer reintroduced Cesar Miranda
and asked him to tell us about himself.
Cesar started off saying he grew up in the
city and is a friend of Dan Derito. He works
for Keller Williams in the Commercial part of
the Real Estate. Cesar and his family live
on the Southside of Brockton. He is glad to
be at the meeting and asked if he can help in
any way just let him know.
Old
Business there was none.
New Business:
Market Basket will be opening up at the
Westgate Mall in the Spring. Postal
service wants to stop service on Saturdays
and close Montello Branch on Saturdays.
The Post office building on Liberty St. maybe
closing, there is a meeting tonight at West
Middle School
Association Drive for
New Members Send out or reach out to new
members. Try to get one new member a month.
Let's try to be involved in any events
that we can be in to help our city and the
people of it. Mary Waldron said people are
still looking for property in Brockton. We
are looking for additions to the meetings any
ideas let us know. Reminders are good. But a
lot of people do not have email, let's try
mailing them out.
