Snow Clock Meeting Minutes - 01/19/23

Anne Beauregard started conversation explaining her grant from the local cultural council. The grant amount is a $1000 . The Grant is meant for preservation of the Snow Clock. Montello Business Association would pay for restoration and get reimbursed for fixing of the clock from the grant.
Tim Carpenter explained his grant ( Mass. Historical ) process and how we need to move forward with the application. The deadline is in March. The discussion began with a formation of a Brockton Historical Commission. Councilor Lally mentioned he had a few candidates in mind. Anne Beauregard said that there is a certain criteria for such a commission. Tim and Councilor Lally said a letter from the Mayor's office and the Park Dept . is another avenue to pursue. Ross told us the cost for preserving the clock and would forward to Tim Carpenter the amount for application process. Anne mentioned Mary Waldron has much experience on how to move forward. Anne also said Senator Mike Brady might help us on the state level on the Historical Grant. Greg Belcher said the clock was not touched or been restored since 1987.
The grant money would help for future restoration needs. Greg also mentioned a future meeting with Mayor Sullivan would help. John Messia told Greg a future meeting with Mayor Sullivan can be arranged for the Snow Clock discussion. A meeting in February has been discussed but not scheduled until all members can arrange their schedules.

- Greg mentioned the key location to the clock and Tim Confirmed he has it in a safe place
- Scott mentioned electrifying it. but Greg said that Ross Hochstrasser would discourage that and he is looking for a person to help him when maintenance is needed. Tim said he would help him if need be.
- Greg mentioned that Council President Jack Lally Ward 6 should be on board when the presentation is proposed. The next meeting will be in February.. but close communication will be before that meeting. We must keep an efforts on Preserving this clock. It is registered on the NRHP
