Snow Clock Meeting Minutes - 03/03/23

Greg Belcher started meeting at 4 P.M. with reading of the minutes from previous meeting.
Tim Carpenter said the the grant application is more than half way completed. The deadline being March 17th.
He also said a letter from Brockton Cultural Affairs and Tourism and Montello Business Association would be added to application for support of grant. Councilor Lally mentioned he would bring up Snow Clock grant to city council meeting on March 6th . It would be nice if we had support from the council. Tim said he would go with Greg Belcher. Tim also expressed about the grant with language about handicap accessibility around the project and said fencing that was in the original plan would be a problem . We agreed not to fence. Councilor Lally asked about the non working fountain in the front. Tim said the pipes are old and probably have lead content in them. This would a problem for humans and wildlife. We all agreed not pursue that avenue. Instead Greg suggested flowers in the fountain area. Councilor Lally talked about other State Grants from the office of Traffic and Tourism.
We agreed to look into it. Meeting adjourned at 4:45 P.M.
- Greg mentioned the key location to the clock and Tim Confirmed he has it in a safe place
- Scott mentioned electrifying it. but Greg said that Ross Hochstrasser would discourage that and he is looking for a person to help him when maintenance is needed. Tim said he would help him if need be.
- Greg mentioned that Council President Jack Lally Ward 6 should be on board when the presentation is proposed. The next meeting will be in February.. but close communication will be before that meeting. We must keep an efforts on Preserving this clock. It is registered on the NRHP
